Index – Economy – The Association of Banks spoke after the Apple scandal

As of Thursday, a serious issue in Apple's app store, the Store, was causing headaches for many people. As Index also reported: Apple's App Store deducted users large sums of money after transactions that never happened, or at least the owners had nothing to do with.

Several financial institutions have already issued statements on this subject on Wednesday, and now the Hungarian Banking Association has also spoken out. As it is written: Thanks to the prompt signals of the affected Hungarian cardholders, the banking sector became aware of the erroneous transactions and, as an intermediary, took immediate measures to deal with the situation. Accordingly, the banking sector has contacted the service provider.

Based on the information available so far, the affected transactions relate exclusively to previous or current subscriptions or purchases, with incorrect technical replication. Purchases from physical terminals or cash withdrawal transactions are not affected.

The Association of Banks stressed:

According to Apple's information, there are no signs of abuse, there has been no abuse of customer data, and no data has been compromised.

Apple accepts related customer inquiries. Based on their feedback, Apple is in the process of refunding the amounts that were wrongly deducted due to the technical issue.
