The total wealth of the world’s billionaires did not reach the record level last year as global stock markets plummeted due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The richest have a total fortune of $12.7 trillion.
According to Forbes magazine’s annual ranking, the number of billionaires worldwide fell by 329 to 2,668, and their total wealth decreased slightly from $13.1 trillion in the 2021 list.
As a result of Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and the sanctions imposed on it, there are 34 billion Russian billionaires on the list. The Forbes According to the report, the drop in the total number of billionaires from 2,755 to 2,668 is the largest drop since the 2009 financial crisis.
