Hungary’s newest festival, Zumjum, is trying to smuggle the north coast to Zamardi, so Attila Till, the show’s host, doesn’t have to leave his favorite city. Why this matters was already revealed in the early minutes of the MOL Nagyony Balaton podcast.
One of the artists of Zimjam, Peter Giste, was immediately called a traitor by Attila Tell of the south coast, when he did not distance himself from Nora Orduj, associated with the north coast. On the other hand, the rivalry between the coasts loses its meaning in Zamjamin, which kicks off in Zamardi on July 28, where visitors will be able to celebrate and relax at the large shared Balaton Summit as the organizers intend.
They didn’t even want to call Zamjum a festival, said festival director Norbert Lebenwyn, it’s very different from what people living in Zamardi are used to. Not only will the programs be concentrated in one place, there will be music at Kőhegy’s viewpoint, jazz concerts, gastronomic and literary programs waiting for guests on the waterside terrace, and the city will be transformed into one large three-day fine art gallery.
In the evening, music will play the main role, among others will also be performed by Kool & the Gang, Shaggy, Péter Geszti, Charlie and Róbert Szikora. One of the important programs of MOL Nagyony Balaton Színpad is to present the winners of this year’s Best of Balaton, and one of the 20 nominees will also receive the special award for this indicator.
The conversation also reveals
- How can Zamárdi handle so many festivals?
- What does Geszti Funky mean, how does Péter Geszti prepare for ZamJam;
- how the band can renew itself and maintain interest;
- Who we can still celebrate their music on at Zummardy, and what other Zumjam programs offer.
Our podcast series presents Balaton’s hottest shows every week until the end of August, so stay tuned for next time!
