Jacqueline Lee Bouvier, wife of the 35th US President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, who died in tragic circumstances, is considered one of the most elegant first ladies. As the partner of the president who was shot on November 22, 1963, she was the first woman in the White House for only a short time, only three years, but her name is associated with events such as the renovation of the presidential residence in Washington, or winning the sympathy of French President Charles de Gaulle.
It wasn’t clear that she would become the nation’s number one woman when she met Kennedy, she was still engaged, but the president’s charms immediately charmed her and they married after a short acquaintance. Her life was surrounded by tragedies, in 1956 she lost her stillborn daughter, and in 1963 she lost her two-year-old son – all just a few months before her husband was murdered.
