A total of ninety-seven bushfires have been reported from sixteen counties. Flames fanned by the fierce winds reached populated settlements in three provinces, with 1,500 people rescued from the flames, MTI reported.
These Algerian regions are experiencing a severe heat wave and the maximum temperature is expected to reach 48 degrees on Monday.
About 7,500 firefighters and 350 different trucks were dispatched to the scene of the bushfires, and with the help of firefighting planes and helicopters, most of the bushfires were brought under control.

Firefighting operations are continuing in six provinces with the participation of 3,050 firefighters and 1,200 volunteer firefighters. 12 army firefighting aircraft were also deployed – The ministry said.
