Do you need gelatin or not? this is the question.
The short video in which an American man living in Budapest tastes jelly has more than 220 thousand views on TikTok. New York-born vlogger Willy Jeffertz has been a fan of this traditional dish since he moved to Hungary a few years ago. Gevertz fell in love with Hungarian culture four years ago, during a short trip, but as it turns out, he is also fully Hungarian, as his grandparents are from the Highlands, who came from there when it was still Hungary. .
The Budapest-based vlogger, whose content about our country is very popular on the Walking With Willie YouTube channel, lives and dies not only for Hungarian history, but also for home-cooked meals. Which is partly why his latest video is all about jelly.
The first time I saw jelly, I told my friend Alexa that something was wrong with the refrigerator. Not everyone likes this dish, but those who do usually add a squeeze of lemon to it. They then take a sip of the delicious warm tea and scoop the jelly. It's basically cold broth and gelatin. As the people of Miskolc say: »He flashes like a frog in Jelly Miskolc. “Grandma cooked it, but I eat it
– Jeffertz explained in his video, which finally earned the food a score of 7.6 out of 10.
His video caused great indignation among Hungarian TikTok users because he said that separate gelatin should be added to the jelly, because this dish becomes thick due to the broth. The others didn't even understand why he was eating lemon with him. Most commentators are used to eating jelly with vinegar and/or red pepper and bread.
