After five years of correspondence, the first date came… and the slap. In short, this is how we can describe the story of the 23-year-old American woman who decided to travel more than 1,800 kilometers to meet the man she had been chatting with online for years.
River Blake flew from Lafayette, Louisiana to Rapid City, South Dakota to meet his date. The woman said the man bought her a plane ticket, but it was not a round-trip. It was also for this reason that he felt uneasy about the man not being present at the agreed upon place. It's just become a blur.
I walked back and forth at the airport for three or four hours. Then I realized he wasn't coming, so I stepped aside. I booked accommodation for two nights and through a friend I met a nice man who took me on a tour around the city. Of course, all of this still hurts a lot, but at least I got to explore the city
– said Blake, who started talking to the man in 2019 after he saw her as a model and found her photos beautiful. The woman claims that they have a lot in common and they talk every night via video call, but the man would sometimes disappear for several days and then return as if nothing had happened.
Not only was Blake charged exorbitant amounts, but he also struggled financially, having to pay $1,290 (about 477,000 Hungarian forints) to be able to stay somewhere for one night, plus a plane ticket home. Blake hasn't spoken to the man since, but vowed he never would. He is focusing more on his career from now on.
