Index – Offshore – One of the largest fish in the world has been caught

Dean McEwan, from Scotland, said he had a lifelong battle with the monster fish after it bit the bait. The huge specimen is tired of the continuous hour and a half hunter. After being pulled ashore, the fish was hoisted into a large net with the help of three people so that the catch could be weighed.

After the fish’s weight and dimensions were recorded and the fishermen sided with it, an exhausted Dean McEwan released the creature safely to the lake. It is certainly the largest catfish ever caught by a Briton, writes A.J daily Mail.

The Mekong giant catfish is a rare type of catfish, which not many people can catch from the water.

According to Guinness World Records, a 3.5-meter-long fish caught in northern Thailand in 2005 weighed 646 pounds (293 kilograms), the largest freshwater fish ever recorded.

Because its number has declined dramatically in recent decades, the International Union for Conservation of Nature classified it as an endangered species in 2003.
