The heir to the Norwegian throne symbolically gave the green light to the facility called Hywind Tampen by connecting two cables.
The wind farm supplies electricity to five oil and gas drilling platforms in the North Sea, which reduces carbon dioxide emissions. According to the oil and gas company Equinor, which is leading the project, it could save 200,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually.

Hywind Tampen is the first facility of its kind in Norway and consists of 11 turbines. The wind farm cost HUF 237 billion and produced electricity for the first time in November 2022.
With a total capacity of 88 MW, it is planned to cover a third of the electricity needs of the Snorre A and B and Gullfaks A, B and C oil and gas platforms.
