As they write, the patient was an 82-year-old woman who did not respond well to local anesthesia, so she moved her eyeballs several times. Since the patient only spoke the local dialect, he did not understand the doctor’s warnings in Mandarin, so the surgeon “manhandled the patient in an emergency.” According to local authorities, the woman suffered bruises on her forehead.
After the operation, the hospital administration apologized and paid 500 yuan (25 thousand Hungarian forints) in compensation to the patient. The woman’s son stated that his mother is now blind in her left eye, although it is not clear whether this has anything to do with what happened.
