A dangerous asteroid is expected to pass near Earth on Monday. The size of the object called 2020 WG is roughly the same as a skyscraper, which is considered relatively average.
On October 28, the asteroid named 2020 WG will pass by Earth. Astronomers classify it as an Apollo-class asteroid, writes A Space reference.
The diameter of the object is about 120 to 270 metres, roughly the size of a skyscraper or a basketball court.
2020 WG is crossing Earth's orbit, so NASA JPL has classified it as a potentially dangerous asteroid.
Based on the observations of astronomers, there is no reason for concern, as the object passes very quickly near the Earth at a distance of more than 3 million kilometers, that is, nearly nine times the distance between the Earth and the Moon.
Asteroid 2020 WG was observed on November 16, 2020, but was officially spotted on January 4, 2021. It approaches Earth approximately every four years, so the asteroid could also be near our planet on October 11, 2028.
