Chester Zoo is celebrating the hatching of two rare parrot chicks. The report stated that the first of the new chicks hatched on September 9, and her brother hatched two days later IFL Science.
Mitchell’s loris are among the most endangered species in the wild, with only a few of the Scarlet-breasted Lory (Trichoglossus forsteni) found in Bali in 2020.
The numbers of these birds have been decimated by the illegal wildlife trade, which has led to the hunting and trapping of these birds. An employee at Chester Zoo said their zoo has joined a conservation breeding programme.
We are currently home to 12 of these beautiful parrots, which is sadly more than have been recorded in the wild in recent years
