According to the company’s engineers, Spot was one of the easiest ways to test the concept of a talking robot that could walk around, look, and recognize objects around it, then describe them using caption modeling. Since Spot can’t just provide pre-filled answers, you can ask it almost anything.
Naturally, as in all LLMs, the risk of “hallucinations” arises, that is, when the AI formulates things that are not real, made up, or not true at all. However, the team used several techniques to ensure that the talking robot does not lose control and does not give tasteless answers to the audience.
