Index - Sports - Lewis Hamilton's race questioned at this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix

It was not an unexpected surprise for Formula 1 fans at the latest Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku. The race was eventually won by defending world champion Max Verstappen in the mirror, but this includes the fact that neither Ferrari was able to finish the race due to various engine failures. Interestingly, a total of four Ferrari race cars could not cross the finish line. Second place went to Sergio Perez, third place went to George Russell, and fourth place went to Lewis Hamilton, who described the Azerbaijani Grand Prix as the most painful race of his life after the race.

Mercedes, a seven-times world champion driver, said he didn’t know at any point in the race if he would ever take that pain to the finish.

There were many moments where I didn’t even know if I would ever finish. I wasn’t sure if I could keep the car on the right track

In the moments after the race, Hamilton told Sky Sports.

The Mercedes race car bounced back very intensely during the race, which has developed into a recurring problem for the team. Team boss Toto Wolff said after the race that Lewis Hamilton’s race at the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend is questionable. The British pilot added:

“Every time I get irritated when I have to reverse in the car.”

However, the seven-time world champion thanked fans for the encouragement in a Twitter post, noting that if it counts, he’ll be there on the network in Canada as well.

Free practice for the Canadian Grand Prix will begin on Friday, the trial will be late Saturday night Hungarian time, while the race will take place on Sunday.
