Index – Sports – Pioneer Veronica speaks with relief and pride after finishing eighth – The highlights of the second day of the Olympics in one place

Andrászvy was the initiator in the first seconds, but at the same time he was not accurate in the end of his actions, so he gave Koki Kano the first touch in the ace. Next was the bronze medalist of the BVSC European Championship, so after a minute and a half the rivals in the first semi-final were equal. 30 seconds before the end of the first stage, Andrászvy hit the two-time Asian champion under the left shoulder for the second time, with this he was already leading (2:1).

Even after a one-minute rest, the Hungarian player remained more active, which was another bonus. However, the Asian team could not be broken too early: Kano found the ball twice after one set, thus achieving a relatively quick draw (4:4). Andrászfy again did a very similar thing, scoring his second hit at the start of the match, and then during another attack he managed to stab the Japanese, who was slipping while defending, before hitting the ground and the duel had to be fixed. Stop (6:4). In general, Asso followed a very similar match pattern to the round of 16 against Grabiel Lugo. Andrászfy almost gave up his advantage, but he could not separate for more than two hits.

They started the last three minutes with the lowest score of the Hungarians, 7:6. The scenario did not change much either: Andrászfy scored, then Kano quickly responded, and for the third time a joint goal. The Japanese tied at 9:9 with a minute and a half to go, and then in what was perhaps the most psychologically critical period – the first in the ace – they entered two games with a draw. However, Andrászfy managed to respond this time too, he had made a great effort in the eighth finals and the quarter-finals, and tried again this time. He also attacked at 11:10, with a wrist shot, but for a short time, the Japanese responded with a precise backhand (12:10). Even in the last seven seconds, the Asians were leading by two points, and some members of their delegation were already celebrating the victory, but Andrászfy was able to respond, miraculously equalizing just before the end of time (13:13).

One minute of appearance came, and we, the Hungarian journalists, could not help but think how much he deserved the victory after this resurrection – but the Japanese arranged it differently, he finally reached the final with golden ink, and Andrászvás left with the battle of the brass (13:14).
