Udvardy, who is clearly 82nd in the world rankings among the Hungarian main draw players, faced the toughest opponent in the opening round, and the opponent who won the Australian Open this year is second in the WTA ranking. Rain completely rewrote Tuesday’s programme, but as this match was scheduled for center court with a resealable roof structure, the sides were able to start the meeting on time.
The Hungarian started a bit decently, the opponent won the first three games of the match, and although Udvardy served after that, Szabalenka had the advantage of the set in 37 minutes. The continuation also brought a one-sided battle, the Belarusian tennis player broke three times, and in just over an hour he decided the issue of advancing.
