Index - Tech-Science - Why do we lie about the coronavirus?

The researcher Many questions were asked, the answers were analyzed according to the characteristics of the interlocutors, and expected, but perhaps surprising, results were obtained for most people. Nearly two thousand people participated in the study and were divided into three equally sized groups. A third of the participants were already infected, the next third had been vaccinated but had so far avoided the disease, while the third group had neither been vaccinated nor had the disease.

According to the five injured, there was nothing

We confirm that more than 40 percent of respondents did not comply with at least some epidemiological measures, according to their admission. The authors add here that this percentage is probably much higher in fact.

A fifth of previously infected respondents denied they had a Covid patient when the topic was brought up in the company or at work. Even more alarming, one-fifth of them also denied it even if they were in a doctor’s office or hospital, for whatever reason. According to their own admission, a third of respondents had previously lied about compliance with epidemiological measures. In this case, we mean that you have declared that you are more cooperative than you really are in a group of friends or at work.

Of course, it’s no surprise that a lot of people lied about vaccinations, too. The least surprising part is that many unvaccinated people lied about vaccination.

This may not even require a special explanation, because, for example, at least initially, many public places can only be visited by vaccinated people. What is more interesting is that many people also admitted to the reverse lie, that is, many of the vaccinated people said that they were not vaccinated in front of others. Nor is it surprising that many people did not comply with the quarantine measures either. At least one-fifth of respondents stated that they had not complied with quarantine or, when questioned, denied being in quarantine.

youth complete

Their lies about Covid seem unaffected by our attitude, education, gender or political orientation. The researchers found only one variable related to honesty about Covid, and that was the age of respondents.

It seems that the older a person is, the more likely they are to tell the truth about Covid and its actions. The investigators explained this by saying that the elderly are seriously affected by Covid, which is why they are taking the matter more seriously. Of course, there is some truth in this, but we also have to add that the younger test subjects, who often lie, also meet older people, either through their family or circle of friends, so that they can also put themselves at risk. their potential lies.

‘There is no covid’

In addition to the above, the researchers also tried to get an answer for what made people tell lies about Covid. Exactly half of the respondents indicated that they simply wanted to feel that their lives were going on as normal. However, a third of them simply said that Covid does not exist. 45 percent also indicated the right to personal freedom, and 40 percent indicated that no one had anything to do with it.

Based on everything, it is, of course, worth considering the meaning and effectiveness of epidemiological measures. Obviously every rule is worth as much as it is followed. Here, of course, growing anti-science arises, as well On social media As well as publishing houses of horror stories and conspiracy theories.

Although the investigation was very comprehensive, it does not cover the number of those who lied about Covid who have been caught.
