In just a few weeks, the biggest update to Windows 11 so far this year will reach users, which will bring many long-awaited features to the operating system, including a turbocharged file manager.
The current version of Windows, Windows 11, was launched by Microsoft in 2021, but since then it has only had minor improvements — and no major changes. These probably won't arrive with the 24H2 update either, but the version that will debut in the second half of the year has a lot of new features that will make everyday life easier.
First of all, we are talking about small improvements that make previous work processes easier and, in some cases, more logical. Right-clicking on the desktop, for example, brings up a slightly redesigned menu: quick actions like cut, copy or paste have so far only appeared as icons in the bottom bar, but in the 24H2 version they are placed at the top of the window Popup that describes in text the action the selected icon is performing.
The update will likely be welcomed by photographers as well, as the new version will give you the opportunity to change the metadata of images – as was also revealed in the case of JPG and PNG formats Latest Windows From his summary.
However, what's more important is that Copilot also migrates to File Manager.
To use it, right-click on the file and select Copilot. We can thus send the file to an AI, which may be able to summarize its content, or in the case of an image, even edit it.
It's also good news that in the new version we will now have the option to automatically rename any file we copy to a folder where a document with that name already exists by checking a single box – saving a huge amount of time.
The 24H2 update for Windows 11 does not have a specific release date yet, but it is already available on various beta testing channels.
