Tamás Menczer said at the presentation of the new 5,100 square meter warehouse complex for the logistics company Trans-Sped that the logistics sector employs about 300,000 people in Hungary, and last year they transported 300 million tons of cargo, this was made clear in an advertisement.
The sector’s output value increased by 50 percent in 2022, to exceed HUF 5,500 billion.
The foreign minister described as exemplary the Debrecen-based family business Trans-Sped, which was founded 33 years ago, employs 900 people, and last year had sales of 33 billion HUF.
Nearly 300 new jobs will be created
Tamás Menczer said that according to the agreement with the company, Trans-Sped will establish six new logistics centers between 2017 and 2023, three in Debrecen, and one each in Nagytarcsa, Környé and Tata.
The total investment value is close to 8 billion HUF, which will create 270 new jobs.
The foreign minister added that the government would provide 2.4 billion HUF as a non-refundable support for development.
László Papp, Fidesz’s mayor of Debrecen, said that over the past 25 years they have “stirred up the backwaters” in the city’s economy, and successful companies such as logistics company Trans-Sped have also contributed to this.
Separately, he talked about the developments of the past eight years, when 16,000 new job opportunities were created with investments amounting to 12.5 billion euros, and the area of industrial complexes increased from 150 hectares to 1,500 hectares since 2014.
