In England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, almost every fourth low-income household will receive £326 (159,000 forint) by the end of the month. The second installment of 324 pounds will be sent to the needy in the fall as part of the government’s 37 billion pounds support package. The money is automatically disbursed to those who are entitled to receive the cash and they do not have to apply for it separately.

In addition, every tenth person will get £150 (73,000 HUF) in disability benefits this fall, and more than eight million retired families can get an extra £300 (146,000 HUF) for the cold winter period. From October, 400 pounds (195,000 forints) will be deducted from household energy bills.
The need for support was also supported by data from the UK’s Office for National Statistics, which showed that in late June and early July, 91 per cent of British adults said their cost of living had risen compared to the previous month. Just under half said they bought less food, and 48 percent said they had to spend more than usual at stores.
Britain’s Office for Budget Responsibility warned of a possible recession driven by rising energy costs and geopolitical tensions.
