Indicator – External – Joe Biden withdraws from presidential election in order to focus more on defeating Trump

According to Joe Biden, he has partially withdrawn from the presidential election so that he can focus on the most urgent task of the Democratic Party, which is preventing Donald Trump from winning, MTI reported.

In an interview with CBS on Sunday, the US president said that many members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate in Congress believe his candidacy will diminish their chances of winning. On November 5, not only will the presidential election be held, but also the US congressional elections, with all seats in the House of Representatives and a third of the Senate seats, or 34 seats in the Senate, at stake.

Joe Biden, in his first interview since announcing his withdrawal on July 21, insisted that he had a chance to win, saying that even when he announced his withdrawal, the polls he knew showed his Republican rival in a head-to-head race and winning the election.

Joe Biden admitted that when he ran for president four years ago, he thought of himself as a “transitional” president, then added that “things then accelerated dramatically, and we failed to maintain the transition period.”

Regarding his previous intention to run for re-election, he stated that he believed it was very important to “preserve democracy” and described defeating Donald Trump as his most important duty to the country.

In the more than three weeks leading up to Joe Biden’s resignation, Democratic Party politicians, many of the party’s well-known public figures, and financial backers have been increasingly pressuring the president to resign. The prelude to the calls was the June 27 presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump in a CNN studio, in which the president gave a poor showing against his Republican rival, according to all polls and analysis.
