The sale of the Chelsea club is expected to end on Monday, after reaching a final agreement with a consortium led by American businessman Todd Bohle, according to the BBC.
Chelsea FC was put up for auction in March after its owner, Roman Abramovich, was sanctioned over his ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who ordered the invasion of Ukraine.
The Premier League and the UK government have agreed to a £4.25 billion acquisition.
To date, the club operates under a special government license that expires on May 31. Abramovich, who bought Chelsea back in 2003, was pleased that the search for an owner was now successfully concluded. The Wall Street Journal wrote in April that This is the biggest deal in the history of the sport mayo.
