nashville – Do you want the good news or the bad news first about three key Giants — running back Derrick Henry, defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, and punter Ryan Stonehouse — who were injured in Sunday’s loss to the Colts?
Let’s start with the bad news: Punter Ryan Stonehouse, who suffered a knee injury, is scheduled to undergo surgery and will be out for the rest of the season.
“Stoney will have to undergo surgery and recover and come back stronger than ever and be ready to go,” Vrabel said on Monday. “(We) definitely don’t want to lose players, which is unfortunate.”
Simmons, who left Sunday’s game with a knee injury, is expected to miss “two weeks” and will not be available Monday night’s loss to the Miami Dolphins.
Simmons returned to Sunday’s game after suffering the injury, but it was ultimately determined that he needed to be suspended by the team’s coaching staff.
“I think he really did everything he could, and even made a play,” Vrabel said of Simmons. “He wasn’t able to do anything. And if you can’t protect yourself out there, no one wants to put the player in danger. We’ll trust Jeff to say when he can go and when.” “He can’t.”
The best news centered on Henry, who was ruled out of Sunday’s game to be evaluated for a concussion.
After team coaches and an independent doctor deemed Henry unfit to return on Sunday, Vrabel said Henry was “doing great, had no symptoms, and trained this morning” on Monday.
“So it’s not in the protocol yet,” Vrabel said. “But we’ll be monitoring how he feels and any symptoms he might have just like we would with any player. So again, he’s doing great so far, which is great news for any player.”
Vrabel said Henry will continue to be monitored throughout the week to ensure he does not develop any symptoms.
Vrabel also said cornerback Christian Fulton is now dealing with a hamstring injury suffered in Sunday’s game.
The Titans return to action Monday night at the Miami Dolphins.
