Avid overclockers have pushed the i9-14900KF well beyond its peak.
Perhaps there were not many people who were particularly eager to wait for Intel’s current 14th generation processors, because the resources running under the name Meteor Lake were not even based on initial rumors promising a significant improvement over the 12th and 13th generations, which were finally released. This week the official offer was dropped and also confirmed.
However, of course we also took the most powerful representative of the update, the i9-14900K which promises a maximum clock signal of up to 6 GHz, you can read the results of that in our test that will be published soon and by the way, the processor also broke the world record.
The more powerful Meteor Lake hardware was tested by Asus’s own overclocking team, during which they managed to spin the brand-new i9-14900 KF, that is, the version without the integrated graphics chip, to 9043.92 MHz well above the factory value. The value compressed from a single P core, using liquid helium cooling, exceeds the previous world record by 35 MHz, so, even by just a little, we have been able to inaugurate a new king.
In the configuration used for the record-breaker, an Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Apex Encore motherboard, 16GB G. Skill Trident Z memory and a 1200W Enermax power supply worked, and one of the team members, SkatterBencher, is a well-known name. In overclocking circles, they revealed that it took a full week of work to reach the new peak.
The team can only be proud of itself for beating the previous record, set in December 2022, when it secured a 9008GHz clock from Intel’s previous generation champion, the i9-13900KF.
