Tips for using your phone near water

Phones used near water require special precautions to avoid damaging the device. Here are some helpful tips to use your phone safely near water.

1. Use a waterproof case.

Invest in a reliable waterproof case that will completely enclose your phone and protect it from submersion. Waterproof cases come in a variety of sizes and shapes to fit any phone.

2. Check your phone's water resistance level.

Many modern phones have some level of water resistance (such as IP67 or IP68). Check your phone's specifications to see how deep and how long it can withstand underwater use.

7 of IP67 means less than 30 minutes of immersion in water

An IP68 rating of 8 means it can be submerged in water for up to 60 minutes.

3. Avoid salt water.

Salt water can be particularly harmful to phones, even if they are water-resistant. If your phone must come into contact with salt water, rinse it thoroughly with fresh water and dry it.

4. Protect ports and connectors

Even if your phone is water resistant, water getting into the charging and headphone ports can cause problems. Use dust plugs or seal these parts if you use your phone near water.

5. Do not charge the phone near water.

Do not charge your phone near water. Moisture can easily enter the charging port, causing a short circuit. If your phone gets wet, dry it thoroughly before charging it again.

6. Be careful with photography and videography.

If you want to take photos or videos underwater or near water, make sure the waterproof case is properly closed and not damaged. Hold the phone tightly so that it does not accidentally fall into the water.

7. Dry the phone after use.

If your phone comes into contact with water, dry it thoroughly with a soft towel after use. Make sure the ports and openings are also dry.

8. Beware of humidity sensors

Many phones have moisture sensors that let you know if the device has been submerged in water.

Pay attention to these signs, and if the phone detects moisture, dry it immediately and keep it in a dry place.

By using these precautions, you can protect your phone from water damage and enjoy activities near water safely.
