Not only is SEGA supposed to update parts of the Yakuza series (it's already happened; it's since run under the IP Like A Dragon), but it's rumored to be planning a more modern version of an episode of another much-regarded series. More popular in the West.
First, a Portuguese newspaper, Universo Nintendo, asked on Twitter whether fans would play a version of Sonic Heroes, released in 2003, running on Unreal Engine 5. This “suggestion” was confirmed by a SEGA/Atlus insider Known, as it was also heard that a remake using Unreal Engine 5 has already been made of the team-based Sonic game. This person has previously talked a lot about the remakes and reboots done by the Japanese company (Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe…). According to him, all of these games will appear on the yet-to-be-announced Nintendo Switch successor, and he has already written that a new Virtua Fighter game with cross-play support and rollback netcode is also being prepared.
Sonic Heroes was released in 2004 (December 30, 2003 in Japan) for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube, followed by a PC port in late 2004. It also appeared on the PlayStation Network in 2012 in Europe and 2014 in Japan, but oddly enough, a digital re-release These were dropped in North America, although the Team Sonic game was more aimed at that audience (after all, we were able to control four different games) Teams: Team Sonic, Team Dark, Team Rose, and Team Chaotix each had Unique story).
Another innovation in the gameplay of Sonic Heroes is that it was possible to switch between the three characters of our team at any time, and their abilities could be improved separately with the help of power-ups located on the levels. The pacing was relatively fast, but the end result wasn't great… although it was light years better than 2006's Sonic The Hedgehog.
Sonic Heroes Remake is still just a rumor, as SEGA hasn't officially talked about it, and probably won't for a while. Anyway, it's an interesting idea to revamp this game.
