The story of the series centers on Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), seen in the first part of Karate Puppy, who will grow up to be a true bankruptcy mass: he will drink and find his place in the world. Later, however, he hears the call of the martial arts, revives the Cobra Kai Dojo and begins teaching karate to a new and young generation. Of course, the original title character, Daniel Larseau (Ralph Macchio), who now runs a car dealership, couldn’t be left out of production either, but he also continued to fight as a hobby. Johnny and LaRusso suffer a lot for the first three seasons, but in the end, after a sudden draw, the two men team up after finding a common enemy.

In addition to nostalgia, Cobra Kai attacks with the force of surprise
From a series that continues the legacy of the Karate Kid, viewers expect it to be rhythmic, both literally and figuratively. The filmmakers recently told The Hollywood Reporter that they didn’t want it, and didn’t seek for a minute that the production be based solely and exclusively on nostalgia.
“It was very important for us to serve the audience, the goal after all is for them to have fun in the series. However, we didn’t just want to double down on the “fan service” and the constant revenge of moving Cobra Kate. Ralph Macchio had run into ideas for years before, so what Would you say if they did puppy karate again, but as a karate man, and would Larso return as a teacher this time? Instead, in Cobra Kai, we twisted the original concept and asked the question, What if Johnny Lawrence becomes a man like Mr. Miyagi?” Happy Josh Held, co-creator of the series.
An important goal of the production creators was also to show viewers something that people hadn’t been able to see in The Karate Kid before.
“We knew we needed new heroes to take part in a whole new adventure. However, it wasn’t easy to introduce them because without putting them in the well-known background world, Karate Kid, viewers wouldn’t have accepted the members of the younger generation. We had to connect the two, the new, nostalgic, It was like getting married. We write the series for two audiences, fans with deep roots who know the Karate Kid franchise back and forth, and regular viewers who are less aware of things.” Added creative specialist.
