One thing is for sure, they are spoiled out there.
To help travelers discover America’s most beautiful sites,… Storyboards – A photo printing company specializing in creating unique wall pictures – Experts analyzed Instagram hashtags to find out the “most stunning landscapes” of the vast continent.
Based on the results, Lake Tahoe, located in the Sierra Mountains between California and Nevada, took first place.
“The list of America’s most scenic landscapes is topped by Lake Tahoe with 2,986,225 hashtags on Instagram,” the analysts explained. This extremely high number of mentions is mostly due to the lake’s amazingly clear waters and the many outdoor activities there, including everything from hiking and fishing to skiing in the winter.
Speaking of lakes, one of the five largest lakes in North America, Lake Michigan came in second place with 2,788,904 hashtags. “Lake Michigan is the third largest lake in America and the fifth largest in the world – not to mention, it is home to many natural habitats,” the description reads.
In third place was Clearwater Beach in Florida, a stunning sandy beach with turquoise waters, with 1,298,877 mentions on Insta. Lake Superior, also one of the five Great Lakes and the world’s largest freshwater lake, ranked fourth with 1,157,663 hashtags. The team believes its popularity, like Lake Tahoe, is due to its “incredibly transparent” waters. The top five is Lake Ontario with just over a million mentions.
It is followed by Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Lake Norman in North Carolina, Lake Huron and Lake Powell, which also includes Arizona and Utah, from sixth to ninth. There was also one place that didn’t rely as much on water, which made the top 10, which was the Mojave Desert, with 429,066 mentions, mostly thanks to its unique sand dunes and trees.
Interestingly, seven of the top ten members are lakes, indicating that Americans prefer this type of landscape over anything else.
A road trip that covers all of America is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in everything this huge country has to offer. During this unforgettable car (and motorcycle) adventure, you can see some (or even all) of the U.S. national parks, or you can plan a tour around famous wineries.
