The newfound ability of the Find My Device functionality promised by Google looks promising.
In recent years, the device search function in the Locator application has been available on iPhone for a long time, through which we can track devices belonging to our Apple ID. At last year's I/O developer conference, Google officially announced that it was working on a similar solution called Find My Device, which was promised to be available this summer, but the launch was ultimately delayed.
The reason for this is that Google and Apple want to create a new standard so that their networks can warn users about foreign trackers located near them (Detecting Unwanted Location Trackers, DULT). According to press reports, the launch of the Find My Device application is only delayed due to the fact that Apple has to prepare its own system for this.

The feature will work by having the device broadcast Bluetooth signals to compatible devices in the vicinity, which will encrypt the location data and transmit it to Google's servers, where only the errant device owner can access it.
Based on the report, this feature will only work on phones that have special hardware that allows the Bluetooth controller to emit tracking signals even when it is turned off. Therefore, in the case of Google's Pixel devices, only the Pixel 8 series and newer models from last year will be supported, even the Pixel Fold released in the summer of 2023 may be excluded.
Nothing is known about the appearance yet, it is likely that Find My Device and offline search will eventually debut in Android 15 on the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro phones, which are expected to be released around the fall.
