We’ve been waiting for StarCraft to return for a long time, and rumor has it we’re not doing it for nothing. According to information dropped by a reliable journalist, a sequel to the legendary RTS series is already in the works.
If we were to list the greatest strategy games of all time, StarCraft and all its sequels would rank very high. However, we can’t say we’ve been very satisfied with the three-way battle between Terran, Protoss, and Zerg, since StarCraft II was released thirteen years ago, but the last big standalone chapter, Legacy of the Void, is nearly eight years old.
Thus, it will be a timely return, and the good news is that the long-awaited announcement will most likely arrive in the foreseeable future. all of this by Jez Corden, We know from a Windows Central journalist (and, by the way, quite reliable), who announced himself on Twitter, only kindly and discreetly. Although the gentleman has since removed the tweet, the internet does not forget, so we describe what happened.
One of Corden’s followers asked the reporter how much chance he sees of StarCraft’s revival if the Activision Blizzard acquisition goes through. Corden simply replied that “Microsoft won’t have to revive Starcraft.” After being asked by his followers if Corden knew of anything specific, and that was specifically StarCraft 3, the journalist, who was always well-informed on such matters, simply replied, “Yes.”
With Blizzard Entertainment holding BlizzCon again this year as a live event after a long hiatus, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Irvine developer giant topped the mood with one or two similarly heavy-caliber announcements. While live service support for World of Warcraft, Hearhstone, Overwatch 2 and of course Diablo IV continues to be uninterrupted, and we can certainly expect exciting announcements on these fronts, the true flagship title is still missing from the main stage. We wouldn’t mind even if it was just a CGI trailer, but the curtain has finally fallen on the next big chapter of the StarCraft universe.
