The US President said this before the bilateral meeting Sweden will make NATO stronger and shares the same values as other NATO member states. He added that they are ready for the defense alliance summit meeting next week, according to the MTI report.
According to Joe Biden, the two countries agree on almost everything regarding protecting democratic values, including security and humanitarian support for Ukraine.

You can tell what Türkiye wants – but not exactly what Hungarians want
Joe Biden’s position can be assessed as a strong message to the countries that prevented Sweden from becoming a member of NATO.
After the Russian aggression against Ukraine, Sweden and Finland departed from the policy of neutrality and applied to join NATO in May 2022. Meanwhile, Finland also received the green light to join, but Sweden has not yet been able to join NATO because of its two member states. Turkey will allow Sweden to join the military alliance in return for concrete and well-defined steps (such as handing over some people residing in Sweden).
However, at such a time and on the political front, Hungary imposed on Sweden hard-to-explain conditions, such as exercising “more respect”, stopping “moral superiority”, or implementing other “confidence-building measures”.
We recently did research among Hungarians in Sweden about Hungary’s position – you can read about the findings and background to joining in their article below:
