Pongrác Kacsóh's heartfelt play was already a smashing success at its premiere. Antal Zerb wrote about the work: “Hungarian literature contains works on a much broader scale than János Vitez, but János Vitez is what you want to give to your friends abroad so that they can feel the warmth, humor and incomparable charm of Hungarian literature. Let people feel the beating of the Hungarian heart. In this work, the reality of the Hungarian land and the dream of the Hungarian soul come together only once. Now Budapest Operettszínház has brought to life the wonderfully beautiful narrative poem The love story of Jancsi Kukorica and Iluska touches the souls of people of all ages. For children, the dazzling fairy-tale world, the amazing fairy-tale house is born Which they imagine in their dreams, the knights of Dahlia and the charming royal princess; and adults can see the mazes of their lives, their inner conflicts, the longing for eternal love and the desire to return home come to life on stage. The show is a classic of our national culture (it pays tribute to human goodness, heroism and patriotism), which we would like to see. We introduce it to a wider audience through a television recording.
