Katalin Kulcsar became the fifth-best female referee of all time in the International Organization for Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).
Four-time IFFHS award winner Bibiana Steinhaus takes first place with 171 points in the rankings published on Monday, compiled by summing up the results of the top 20 in each year’s rankings.
The German whistleblower is just two points ahead of Switzerland’s Esther Staubli, who has never won the annual award but has been included in the world’s top ten soccer referees every year since 2012.
38-year-old Katalin Kulcsar is fifth with 78 points.
Sándor Puhl, who died in 2021 at the age of 65, came 11th in the similar overall ranking of the IFFHS on March 8, which ranked male referees from 1987 to the present, having been voted the best referees in the world by four times. respectively between 1994 and 1997.
