Adolf Balazs, the men's favorite, won the longest canoe race, Zofia Kesban, who also won the women's 1000 metres, and Borka Zajevaj, who was second behind her at the time, finished third in the field of six.
In the kayak, Vanda Kiszli took third place and Zuka Ksikos took fourth place, while in the men's category Cornel Peck took seventh place and Balint Kulik took ninth place. The fifth was 44-year-old Lajos Gjokos, who won the world championship title at the same venue in 2006 as a member of the Hungarian quartet, and currently represents the Japanese colours.
Representatives from 63 countries participated in the competition, which was held from Friday to Sunday.
