The girls' father is a famous film director and hosted Reeves for a family dinner. The actor recalled the meeting in a way that made the girls very interested in the movie, but they didn't know much about it.
“I started telling them about this guy who lives in a kind of virtual world. He realizes that there is a real world, and then he wonders what is real and what is not, and he really wants to know what reality is.”
The actor explained.
So one of the girls asked the actor: Why?
Reeves looked puzzled, and continued, “Who cares what the truth is?”
The actor's jaw dropped and he asked the young man, according to them, does he care what is real and what is not? The girl answered very calmly: No.
“It was amazing,” said the Matrix star, who was shocked by the younger generation's different perspective.
