Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp does not support the idea of the American owner of Chelsea to organize an all-star party in the English Premier League, similar to the professional leagues in North America.
Todd Buehle said at a conference in New York on Tuesday that the Premier League could “learn a little American sports” and hold an All-Star Party to raise money for lower-tier clubs.
“What can I say to that? Maybe he wants to bring in the Harlem Globetrotters and merge them into a football team?” – Klopp said sarcastically after the Champions League match with a 2-1 victory over Ajax in Asia on Tuesday. According to him, the main problem is that the competition calendar is already crowded and there is no place for such a party.
“When you find a date, you can call me. You forget that in America, players in major sports get a four-month break, so they are very happy to play during those breaks. In football the situation is completely different.” – added the Liverpool coach. Outside, baseball (MLB), basketball (NBA) and ice hockey (NHL) All-Star celebrations take place mid-season, while American Football (NFL) organizes the Pro Bowl, which coincides with the celebration, the Sunday before the Grand Final, Super pee.
In addition to Chelsea, Boehly is part-owner of MLB’s Los Angeles Dodgers and also has an interest in the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers.
