Krystian Sosztarich: Autumn Silhouettes – Hungarian Agriculture

“One of my first decisive experiences with nature was one September afternoon in Salafő, when I was engaged in dog training, while I heard a strange sound from the forest. Since then, I have had countless adventures with the camera in my hand, but those afternoons The patrol was the reason I started taking photos. At first, I visited TAEG Zrt Síkvidéki Forestry just as an observer, then I bought a camera, and it took a lot of learning and experience before the first good photos appeared.

Little by little, I fell into the world of nature photography, and since I already had dogs, I photographed deer while we listened to the deer chirping together.

Nature brings calm to people's lives. I believe that the green environment is the true home of man, that's why I moved to the middle of the forest. Nature photography has also deepened my respect for the living world. Not only do I think this way, my partner and family do too. And also the group of foresters who allow me to indulge in my passion. It has been a decade since I have been able to repay the help I previously received through photos and dog shows. Thanks to the staff of the Forestry Department, I can go to special places and work with hounds ranked among the best in Europe. I participate in forest school sessions, teaching many children and adults about the love of dogs.

Special silhouettes

I experimented with special settings, and was curious to see how rich the backlit shot would be. At the end of August, I went out methodically with the aim of observing game action and searching for a location and setting from which I could capture the silhouette of the rodley at sunset.

On the day I took the photo, I saw a raging bull herding his cattle in the distance. Coming from the bottom of the hill, they did not consider it a danger, but rather turned intently towards the direction from which the shadow had stolen meters.

Neither the stallion nor the bull had anywhere to go, they showed themselves as if they felt that this twilight was ours. Once I captured this moment, I stopped bothering them. “It was a special experience, even from a distance I felt like I was part of the team.”
