June 20, 2024 – 8:00 pm

According to the Momentum Movement statement, Parliament Speaker László Kóvier did not allow the party to hold a conference on basic human rights in Parliament. US Ambassador David Pressman and the LGBTQ organization were also invited to the conference.

The conference was announced by faction leader David Bidow, head of the Diversified Hungary Representative Group, on 21 June. Among the invited guests were all members of Parliament, regardless of their party affiliations, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps and civil organizations. The main topic of discussion is the role played by the legislature in ensuring equal rights.

Bedő checked the hunting room in Parliament for the conference and asked Kövér for the room. “László Kóvier has not responded to this for almost a month, and today, one day before the Conference, he indicated that he would not allow the event into Parliament. The Head of State Party in his negative response to Resolution XXXVI of 2012. refers to his commitment contained in Article 2 (1) of the law, according to which “the Speaker of Parliament guarantees the exercise of the rights of Parliament, ensures the protection of Parliament’s authority, maintains order and security of Parliament and regulates the work of Parliament,” Momentum wrote and according to Bedou the negative answer is exclusionary and inflammatory.

Ahead of the Pride March on Saturday, we asked parliamentary parties and major political forces whether they would participate in the march. Momentum, MSZP and MKKP will also advance, but Barbiszd will be present, along with Bence Torday, who recently departed. Mai Hazank will not be present, but they believe that the government has knelt before the gay lobby.
