Many Windows users have recently faced the error that the latest update has destroyed VPN services which are the foundation of safe browsing.
Microsoft's statement supports the error, as many users encountered VPN connection errors after installing the April security updates. According to the company, the affected versions include Windows 11, Windows 10, and Windows Server 2008.
“We are currently investigating complaints from users and will provide more information in the coming days.” – The company said.
Although the company has not yet announced the cause of the error, it has advised users to use the Windows Get Help app if they need help with their personal or family accounts. In addition, it was also announced that small and large business customers who need assistance can request it through the business support portal created for this purpose.
Temporary solution to VPN problems
Although we have not yet received a solution to the VPN issues, you can temporarily fix the lack of service by uninstalling security updates. However, this also removes all the vulnerability fixes brought by the April update. You must follow these steps for the previous version: System > Windows Update > Update History > Uninstall updates.
The company has not yet determined when it will be able to complete the repair, but it is already working on this issue and we hope to provide a solution sooner or later.
Hackers vs Microsoft
The company previously reported that some of its corporate email accounts had been hacked and data stolen by a state-backed Russian hacker group. The Midnight Blizzard attack was discovered on January 12, but their system was compromised in November 2023. By doing so, the hackers collected a list of usernames and then attempted to log in using a specific password. To achieve their goal, they used a test account without two-factor authentication, after accessing some Microsoft email accounts for more than a month.
