The parade was also attended by representatives of the public service, health and law enforcement organizations, and large sports clubs. Mayor Sadiq Khan said that in London everyone can be whoever they want to be.

Taking on the character of a folk festival, Saturday’s carnival-like procession proceeds from Hyde Park, touching the famous Piccadilly Circus, Lower Regent Street, Pall Mall and Trafalgar Square to Whitehall, home to government institutions.

According to organisers’ estimates, 35,000 members from more than 600 organizations – including the National Health Service (NHS), which is celebrating its 75th anniversary – and law enforcement, unions and the armed forces, took part in the march – but the number of people lining the route may have approached a million.

The official organizer of the event, which is taking place for the 51st time and runs into the evening, is Pride in London, a charity and self-support group whose main stated aim is to accept diversity, ensure equal rights, and eliminate prejudices and discrimination against the LGBT+ community.

On the occasion of the several-hour parade, much of central London was closed off and given over to the celebrating crowd; Thus Whitehall can also be taken in by the very variegatedly dressed crowds.

At Saturday’s demonstration in London, representatives of individual public service, health and law enforcement organizations and major sporting clubs marched in separate groups; Soldiers and policemen in uniform were also seen in the procession.

Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, also walked in the procession. In his Twitter message to the participants, Khan emphasized: In London, everyone can freely be who they want to be and love whoever they want to love.
