It’s been more than two weeks since Fabian Marozán defeated Carlos Alcaraz and wrote himself into the history books, and the tennis world has recognized his name. The name of Marton Vucovic has been popular with sports followers since 2010. The Nyiregyhaza-born athlete won Wimbledon 13 years ago, and in recent years with smaller and larger ups and downs, but he is always a member of the male elite. However, throughout his career, large scalps such as those collected by Fábián Marozsán in Rome were missing.
Although two years ago – exactly at Roland Garros – He defeated Daniil Medveev, who was ranked fifth in the world at the time, thus defeating his top ten opponent for the first time – his record until then was 0-14 against the narrowest elite. Now, in an evening match against 22-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic at Stade Philippe Chatrier, he is poised to pull off a similar feat.
Because even two years ago in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon he had no real chance of defeating the Serb, and now he seems vulnerable as one of the biggest chances at Roland Garros. Of course, he is one of the favorites for the French Open tennis tournament precisely because, apparently, he can refute it in the next two weeks and even write history and win the 23rd Grand Slam title.
One thing is for sure, Márton Fucsovics has a chance to win sets and sets again. And the rest depends only on what he can get out of himself in such a match and what kind of game the opponent is playing.
Because in their four meetings so far, they have managed to steal a match from Novak Djokovic three times, most recently in Paris, at the Masters tournament on hard courts. The first round of the 2018 US Open was the first stop when the two clashed, and the Serb won in four sets in a very heated match. And a year later, in Doha, he only managed to beat the Hungarian player in the final. Then their duels at Wimbledon brought results already on paper, but this path is undoubtedly the domain of Djokovic.

The Serbian 22-time Grand Slam champion, on the other hand, is showing a completely different form in this year’s court season. In Monte Carlo, he was beaten by Lorenzo Musetti, then in Banja Luka Dusan Lajović ordered him to stop, and in Rome Holger Rohn overtook him in the top eight. At Roland Garros, he started with a convincing three-set success against Kovacevich, who was not in the top 100, although the American was able to break twice, although he could only overcome double breaks with both. Vosovic also confidently advanced from the opening round, defeating France’s Hugo Grenier in four sets.
The Hungarian tennis player may be able to play a close match with Novak Djokovic, which could cause another tennis win, although he will need a near-perfect game, great serve and unrestrained exploitation of positions. One of the best matches on Wednesday’s program will take place no later than 9am at the certainly packed Philippe Chatrier. And Marton Vosovic likes big matches with that kind of atmosphere.
