Funcom had a big hit a year and a half ago with The Outsiders, a rhythm game combined with an FPS. Metal: Helsingerrel. The marketing machine was spinning in the thousands long before release, and the metal singers lending their voices to the music played in the game were announced one by one, from Alyssa White-Gluz (Archenemy(Matt Heaven)Trivium(To Serj Tankian)system of a down). And at Gamescom 2022, they didn't even have their own stage, instead they organized a huge concert one night, where Alyssa and Matt, among others, performed.
The game has been constantly expanded since its release, new songs have arrived in DLC, and the software has gained new functionality with a free update. And this year, another big chapter in the life of Metal: Hellsinger will come: it will also be released on virtual reality platforms. Specifically, this means the Meta Quest 2 and 3, Meta Quest Pro, PlayStation VR 2, and Steam VR platforms.
The music will of course be kept, and the controls will be adapted to VR elements. This way, we will be able to shoot separately with our pistols, reload our weapons manually, and knock down our opponents with our sword. We can use the joystick to move, we can drive in the entire VR space, but we can also play while sitting.
Metal: Hellsinger VR will be released sometime in 2024.
