The names Xiaomi and MIUI have been intertwined since the beginning, when the company started in 2010, and today there are more than 560 million active users of the Chinese manufacturer’s interface. However, it seems that there will be some changes, as MiOS is in the works, which may completely replace MIUI.

Xiaomi has protected the MiOS name and kept the domain name mios.cn, which clearly indicates that they are preparing a new system of their own. The famous Chinese leaker Digital chat station According to the manufacturer’s plans to completely replace the MIUI interface with MiOS.

At the moment, it is highly questionable what exactly MiOS is. One possibility is that it will also be an interface like MIUI, but the company is more likely to try something like Huawei with Harmony OS. According to assumptions, MiOS will be a new operating system based on AOSP, that is, it starts from the open source version of Android, but developed completely independently from Google.

Perhaps Xiaomi is preparing so that if it becomes like Huawei, i.e. its operations are restricted by sanctions, it will have something to gain access to. Naturally, they will likely offer MiOS without penalties, which can run not just on phones, but on all kinds of smart devices, such as cars and wearables.
