While the focus is currently on the Pixel 9 series, which will debut in a few days, Apple’s iPhone 16 launch is not far away. While we’re still waiting for actual iPhone 16 leaks, a recent YouTube video detailing iPhone 16 test models has given us a comprehensive preview of what to expect from Apple’s next flagship phones.
One of the most noticeable changes is the return to bright, saturated colors on the non-Pro models, a stark departure from the muted colors of years past. The leaked dummies feature royal blue, turquoise/green, and pink, in addition to the classic black and white options. It’s worth noting that even the black appears to be a deeper, more saturated shade compared to the gray tones of previous models.
The video also reveals that all iPhone 16 models could come with a matte glass back, a departure from the glossy finish of previous non-Pro iPhones. This new design is not only visually appealing, but it will likely give it a more premium feel.
Physically, the iPhone 16 retains the dimensions and connector openings of the iPhone 15. However, the camera module is undergoing a major overhaul, as several leaks show. The new design features a vertically arranged dual-camera system reminiscent of the iPhone X configuration, although the cameras are slightly more prominent with larger lens apertures.
The button placement is similar to the iPhone 15, but the Action button replaces the silent switch on this year’s non-Pro iPhones. There’s also speculation about the addition of a new button, which could be a camera shutter or another customizable function button. While the renders include a cutout in this area, the source suggests that it could simply be a modified mmWave antenna cutout from the iPhone 15.

While the test models don’t offer much insight into the display changes, the iPhone 16 series is rumored to feature thinner bezels. This could result in a slight increase in screen size while keeping the body dimensions the same. Internally, the iPhone 16 series is expected to be powered by different versions of the Apple A18 chip.
It's important to note that these are prototypes and the final design of the iPhone 16 could differ slightly. However, given that the launch is expected in mid-September, it's unlikely that the real devices will differ significantly from the prototypes shown here.
