Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Finland and Sweden’s accession to NATO would have far-reaching consequences, the Interfax news agency reported. He also talked about how this step would fundamentally change the global situation.
According to Ryabkov, Finland and Sweden should have no illusions that Russia will simply bear its decision, he writes Interfax.
On Monday, Sergei Ryabkov said that the security of Sweden and Finland would not be enhanced as a result of joining NATO, and that Moscow would not accept this status.
The situation, of course, changes radically in light of what happened. (…) All this reflects the completely wrong and distorted perception of Western political circles, especially northern European countries, about what happened in the world, ”he told reporters in Moscow.
How we will ensure our security after the change in NATO’s makeup is a separate issue. “This will depend on the practical outcome of the expected accession of Finland and Sweden,” Ryabkov said.
