Although he has had huge battles during his career so far, Dominik Szoboszlai is yet to play City Rally for any team – noted the British news channel M4 Sport. However, at Liverpool, he already played in his first derby match against Everton, and the Hungarian national team midfielder was on the field the whole time.
I couldn’t even imagine that playing at Anfield could be any better, I thought: wow, it’s so much higher
He said of his first match against Everton.
Precise passes, lightning-fast sprints, and a terrifying right foot. Dominik Szoboszlai’s statistics at Liverpool speak for themselves. |
They also talked about his father in the interview. Szoboszlai said that when he started walking, his father was already joking with him about the ball:
He put some bottles on the floor and I had to push the ball around. At that time I was 3-4 years old and if one fell I had to start over every time until I was 14 years old.
We didn’t deal with tactics or reinforcements. It was all about my technique, just shooting, passing and ball handling. left Right. I think that’s why my style has become so good. “At that time, I was sometimes angry with him because of the many training sessions, but over time I understood why he did it,” Szoboszlai added.
When the 36-cap international midfielder moved on in the summer, he didn’t think he would be on the pitch for all of his side’s Premier League matches yet.
To be honest, it wasn’t that I didn’t pick the right team, but whether the timing was right. Am I ready to move to the Premier League and play for Liverpool? I told myself when something big comes along you never know what to expect. You have to try. If I don’t try, I’ll never know what if. I always wondered why I didn’t go. So I said let’s do it. I will be ready – recalls Szoboszlai.

Many midfielders left Liverpool during the summer transfer period, but Szoboszlai did not see the task as difficult, but rather was enthusiastic about the task.
Playing with Mohamed Salah is crazy. In the early days it was like playing on PlayStation or something. It was exciting to get to know these players and not just see them on TV. The Hungarian national team captain said that playing with them on the field was better than anything else.
The 23-year-old midfielder has been compared to club legend Steven Gerrard several times. One of the former Liverpool captain’s thoughts can also be read on Szoboszlai’s arm.
“It’s great that they’re talking about me being the new Steven Gerrard, and they haven’t had a midfielder like me since Gerrard. But I don’t want to be like him. I just want to be myself. But of course if they put a piece of paper in front of me now and said I’d have the same career here At Liverpool, I will sign it.”
Szoboszlai told the BBC that he wanted to win everything with his team:
Premier League, FA Cup, Europa League. Who cares about second place?! If you asked my teammates, I think they would say the same thing.
