The 52-year-old actress deliberately turned her back on Hollywood.
The premiere of the year's most anticipated film on Netflix has been postponed. Half the world has been waiting for Back in Action not only because of its subject, but also because Cameron Diaz, who retired 10 years ago, will appear again in this film. The 52-year-old actress turned her back on Hollywood in 2014, wanting to focus on her private life and motherhood. A decade-long retirement appears to be longer than we thought, Origo reports.
Back in 2023, news came that Diaz had signed a lucrative contract with Netflix for the action comedy Back in Action, opposite Oscar winner Jamie Foxx. For one, the world rejoiced at the news of Cameron Diaz's return, but filming wasn't smooth sailing either. After just a few weeks of work, Jamie Foxx had to be taken to the hospital, as the actor was in a life-threatening condition for unknown reasons.
The star's rehabilitation lasted a month, so the work was also delayed: while Foxx was recovering, crew members tried to record scenes that were not needed, or for which double the light was enough. In the end, they just shot the movie and Netflix announced that in November 2024, the whole world will be able to see that Diaz is great even over the age of 50.
According to information from Imdb.com, the live streaming platform postponed the film’s premiere without a word, for unknown reasons. The new date will be January 2025, according to the news, but let's not believe that yet. Speculation began immediately, because a poor date for the movie of the year in January usually means one thing: the movie turns out to be crap.
