The 2024 SAG Awards failed to crack the most-watched TV shows on Netflix for the week.
Saturday's live broadcast of the awards show did not rank among the 10 most-watched TV shows during the week of Feb. 19, putting itself in viewership below indie comedy show “Mike Epps: Ready to Sell Out,” which ranked No. 1. The seventh most watched show of the week with 3 million views.
Tenth place on the English TV chart was occupied by the first season of The Tourist, which achieved 2.1 million viewers, meaning the SAG Awards failed to exceed a viewership of 2.1 million. Since Netflix only releases exact viewing numbers for shows, viewership data for the SAG Awards will likely remain unknown until the streamer releases its data transparency report for the first half of 2024.
Notably, the 30th annual awards ceremony ranked among the top 10 most-watched television series of the week in one country – Canada. The SAG Awards ranked it the ninth most-watched TV show of the week in Canada, surpassing the viewership of the first season of “American Nightmare,” which ranked 10th.
The SAG Awards live stream expands Netflix's live event programming, which the streamer debuted with “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage” in early March, which debuted to an astonishing 17.79 million viewing hours.
The most prominent movie this week was “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” which garnered 21.2 million views in the four days since its release on February 22. The live-action adaptation, which also reached the top 10 in 92 countries, surpassed the 7.5 million views of Season 6 of “One Day” and “Love Is Blind,” as well as “Can I Tell You a Secret?” ” “, which achieved 6.5 million views.
