No Romanian party entered the Sepsiszentgyörgy City Council, all seats went to RMDSZ

All 21 council seats in the Sepsiszentgyörgy City Council will be filled by RMDSZ representatives, the other six political formations have not reached the entry threshold – Announce City Mayor Arpad Antal in his press conference on Monday.

According to data published on the website rezultevot.ro, 78.84% of voters voted for the list of RMDSZ City Council candidates in Giorgi Sepsiszynt. The Social Democratic Party got 4.8%, the Soviet Union got 4.44%, the Australian Party got 3.71%, and the Nepal National Party got 3.28%. Less than 3% of voters voted for the Hungarian Transylvanian Assembly and the Hungarian Civil Force, Agerpres summary.

Arpad Antal won the mayor's office for the fifth time with 83 percent of the vote. He stated that he was concerned that no Romanian party would reach the city council, and that he did not consider it appropriate for the Romanian community, which constitutes 20 percent of the city's population, not to be represented in the council. Therefore, he encouraged the Public Security Directorate, the National Police and the Union of Socialist Republics to establish an advisory council that could work with the Council. “I want an institutional dialogue between the mayor's office and representatives of the Romanian community,” said Arpad Antal.

In the past four years, the Sepsiszentgyörgy City Council has had only one councilor of Romanian nationality, Liviu Comaneci of the National Liberal Party.
