First of all, congratulations. When did you start feeling like you might win the winning couple?
Norby: The penultimate day when I decided that We were in TOP3. That’s when I started feeling like I could even win from now on. I thought up front that if we made the final decision with Zita, we would have less chance, since they had a good relationship with everyone and I thought they would get more votes. Zeta was like a thorn psychologist, passing from person to person as if she was asking. But I was sure we would beat Gusts.
Odette: From the start, I thought we would win. I have a great competitive spirit, I love to compete and win. I was with him to win, there is no other choice. We added 110 percent all the way through, and she always encouraged Norby as well, because he was always planning just three days in advance. I believed in ourselves, in our relationship, I knew we could even win. But in the final, I left it because it was no longer up to us at that point about the end result.
How did you feel when I finally pronounced your name?
Norby: As if it was a dream, we couldn’t process it for days. It was a long process from preparation to filming, and stressful at times, so I was really happy to be the winning pair. In the end, the crew came to us, the players who were left out, and we congratulated everyone, and we’ve been very proud of ourselves in that moment and ever since.
Odette: I can honestly say I’ve never felt such pride, it was an indescribable feeling, I can’t really compare to anything. It was an exhilarating moment.
When you first entered the danger zone, your relationship suffered, too. If you go home there, you probably won’t stay together?
Odette: It happened a few times before we got better together, but we always found each other. I think the stronger our relationship, the more we break up because of it. Sure, I wouldn’t part with these reasons, but I can handle disagreements better. Norby hates controversy, for him the world falls apart when we come to something better, he finds it difficult to bear conflicts.
Norby: We would have experienced it as a huge failure for sure. Our relationship hasn’t faltered, so we’re on stronger feet. Regardless, I would have hesitated to go home after this quarrel. If we don’t lose, the votes we get because of sympathy may not be awarded to us. I was ashamed that a country should have seen this, I should have quelled my nerves, but I still think it strengthened us even more on the show.
Was there a predicament other than that when I felt tired?
Odette: I think so The quarrel was a dead end, but I was nervous every day to stay inside and play the game. My mind was always on the next step, and I just couldn’t calm down.
Norby: After the quarrel, the wagon started and we did everything in front. The success experiences that filled us came in, and taking the hurdles through these came a little easier. It was such an amazing feeling that we worked so well together, and struggled like a real couple.
It has been said many times initially by your colleagues that they are not afraid of your performance. How did this happen to you?
Odette: They never look at anything inside of me, it’s been typical since I was a little girl. For some reason, I still trust myself. I know very well what I can do, so I smiled several times under my moustache. I trusted our husbands, I trusted Norby. I said to myself no matter how weak you are and you will see who laughs in the end.
Norby: There was also prejudice about our person in the villa. On the third or fourth day, I could feel more people opening up about us: they started getting to know us and realized we could talk to us and we were very open to getting to know them anyway.
Looking back, is anyone surprised by the reporting room’s data?
Norby: We missed a lot of inconsistencies and contradictions during the match. In hindsight, I see that I wasn’t in the picture at all about other people’s discussions. I’m in my own life too, I don’t like getting into other people’s lives, it’s none of my business. We did really well with Odette, just watching each other. There were times when we went to rest for a few hours and by the time we got back to the villa, everything had changed: alliances had been made or had just broken. For us, the most important thing was to stay as if we were outside. I wouldn’t be sad even if we didn’t win, we had a good experience.
How was it like watching the show again? Is there anything you would do differently then?
Odette: It was nice to live it all over again, but I was still excited in front of the TV every day. One day there were so many new things for you to experience, the second time was more grueling. I wouldn’t change anything, because we won, so everything was fine.
Norby: If we change anything, it may not be done that way. We are satisfied with what we see again of ourselves.
Who are you communicating with today?
Norby: Zita and I live in the same town as my mother twice, and I recently called Feco. The show also gave me a friend in person.
Odette: I have a good relationship with Edina and Choti, but we also meet with Pribe. As Norby says, Zeta and I spent two backs together.
Is there anyone you would prefer to avoid watching the show retroactively?
Odette: We also had good and bad experiences with everyone. We are not angry, but we do not keep in touch with those we do not have in common.
Norby: Looking back at the broadcast, there were a couple of interviews that either surprised or failed, but I got over that too.
Did the winning couple change you?
Odette: I needed this show to think differently about myself. I tried many new things, often not in very ordinary situations, and I think I solved it quite skillfully. I know what I still need to improve on, and I’m about to change those things. My self-esteem has improved, and my lack of self-confidence is completely gone, thanks in part to the show.
Norby: I noticed in Audien that he changed the show quite often, in a completely positive direction. As he says, he no longer suffers from a lack of self-confidence, which is a great happiness for me.
What are your plans for the future?
Odette: I will want my own clothing brand someday since I studied fashion design, this is my profession. I love trying new things and then seeing what life brings.
Norby: I want Odette to design men’s clothing too, and I’ll be her model. (laughs) Seriously, Budapest can be seen in RTLII day and night on weekday evenings, which I hope will remain so for a long time to come.
